Like many of the inspiring things in my life, I owe my love of Prince to my mother. Music was always playing, both literally and figuratively, in my early life. Classics like "Raspberry Beret" and "Little Red Corvette" were the soundtrack to our long car rides. Her eyes would light up when she talked about his concerts.
My fondness for Prince is not unique or exceptional, but his presence in my childhood made his loss heartbreaking. Hours after the news of his passing I knew I wanted to commemorate him through art- it's what would have thrilled him. I play "I Would Die 4 U" for my daughter and dance with her in the living room because the cycle must go on. Artists are eternal, and his legacy will live on through his magical songs and timeless inspiration.
Enjoy my little piece to the lost Prince.
Stay dearly beloved,
PS: Photo nerd note! I made this "milk" bath with a container of powdered coffee creamer from Publix and neon purple food coloring. It didn't stain the tub at all. :)
