The Balcony Shoot

Gone are the days (for now) of hopping in the car and carelessly shooting. Having a baby has put a lot of things in perspective for me, but one of the biggest lessons is the value of time. I savor every second of the day, including while Basil sleeps.

Andrew and I have been in and out of each others lives for about eight years now. He's seen me at my most brazen and insecure. Motherhood has granted me the ability to serve him as a better friend, as a calmer, more centered woman. Over the years he's inspired a number of photos, songs, and strings of words. He's a muse, a mentor, and one of my best friends.

Instead of wandering the streets of Miami we took photos on my balcony during Basil's morning snooze. We honored time, the sunlight, and ourselves. I am so happy with the way he captured me because it provides a window to how he sees me. I adore the duality of these images because it's the perfect summary of our friendship: bright, strong, and in love with the world around us.

Stay in the clouds,
